we’re going downown, baby

old barn/garage (?)

Before the rain returned, we got a chance to hit up downtown Willow Springs yesterday. Being a poor rural town, there are lots of old decrepit buildings, crumbling houses and barns. We walked down Main Street which is lined with two-story brick buildings, most of which are empty, a few scary restaurants and a pleasant little park that was filled with dogwood trees. The buildings were painted with murals and advertisements about a million and a half years ago so it made for good picture takin’.

neighborhood walk #1

cool sf site #2: SanFranciscoMemories.com

postcard to the Panama Pacific International Exposition, 1915, SF

I just came across this great site called San Francisco Memories which goes into great detail about San Francisco’s past. This website is littered with old photos and memorabilia from across the city. Some of the subjects covered are the 1915 World’s Fair, the 1906 earthquake, and the history behind the famous Cliff House. I had great fun for hours just looking at all the cool old photos (here and here) and the site even boasts a nice collection of 3D pictures and interactive photos and maps (check out this map from the 1915 World’s Fair - click any where on the map and an old photo will appear). Anyway, just thought I’d share…
