Before the rain returned, we got a chance to hit up downtown Willow Springs yesterday. Being a poor rural town, there are lots of old decrepit buildings, crumbling houses and barns. We walked down Main Street which is lined with two-story brick buildings, most of which are empty, a few scary restaurants and a pleasant little park that was filled with dogwood trees. The buildings were painted with murals and advertisements about a million and a half years ago so it made for good picture takin’.

February 6th, 2008 — Neighborhood Walks
The rain has finally stopped… for now. The weather for the past couple of days has just been fabulous so we decided to take advantage and went for a short walk today. Our neighborhood is full of schools that are decorated with murals. The most interesting one we’ve found so far is at 37th and Quintara and was put together by the Precita Eyes Mural Arts Center. It is entitled “History of the Sunset District” and was originally painted in 1979. Continue reading →
