The weather finally cleared up over the weekend so we decided to hit up the Bakersville Heritage Day Festival in south central Missouri. After about an hour’s drive, we finally arrived to find the festival hidden back in a very rural area by way of a very narrow gravel road. The surrounding area was gorgeous, filled with green pastures, rolling hills, and trickling streams.

The festival itself was quite small but had some interesting goods to offer. There was an apothecary, a giant seed store, and enough live poultry to shake a stick at. There was also a blacksmith giving demonstrations, several vendors selling homemade goods, and fresh sundried tomato bread to be had (super yummy!).

Overall, it was a gorgeous day and I’m glad we got out. I still have to get used to the whole driving thing again. Especially in this part of the country where you have to drive for half an hour just to find a decent restaurant. I’m so going to get fat now that I don’t have to walk everywhere anymore. Needless to say, the StairMaster is going to become my new best friend. Yeah, right…

I love small town festivals and that looks like a really scenic area. But my oh my, haven’t you gone from one extreme to the other. You may have to consider changing the name of this site to “Capturing the Country”.
